AI Agents can do work for you, if you let them. They are fully capable of:
Extracting structured data from unstructured sources, like emails, documents, and websites
Querying and interpreting data to automate report generation
Interacting with customers to provide personalized guidance and support
These types of agents will collaborate with each other, handle failures intelligently, and reason independently. They are built on top of foundational Large Language Models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and X. The model provides the "brain" for the agent, and its tools provide an interface to take actions (like running a query or sending an email).
Most people aren't making AI Agents this way yet... Instead of letting the agent reason independently, they are building DAGs, chains, or graphs of prompts that are executed sequentially. We refer to these as chatbots. They can be useful for certain types of tasks, but their upside is limited.
